Our President
Sue Krul first met Ed in 1975 and soon became a member of the board in 1976. Ed saw something special in Sue and he mentored her for years preparing her to carry on his work. Following the loss of Ed in 2002, Sue became the new president of Animal Care and Welfare Inc. and continues to carry on his legacy today.
Her love of animals led her to become a groomer in 1967. She opened her own grooming salon, Sue’s Pet Parlor, in 1973. After 31 years of pampering pets, she decided to open her own pet resort in 2002.
The pet resort became the perfect place for our adoption program. After 19 years, Sue retired from the pet boarding business and the pet resort was sold. However, that didn't stop Sue from continuing AC&W's mission and our adoption program. She is currently working on a new plan for 2022.
Sue's hard work and dedication have made AC&W what it is today and we know Ed would be proud!
Our Treasurer
Bonnie Evans-Magdalene has been
involved with Animal Care & Welfare Inc.
for many years. Volunteering is her passion and she has volunteered for other organizations before she became
one of our board members.
She feels that the organization has done a lot of good for many helpless and homeless cats and dogs and she is proud to be a part of our team and mission.
She has been an animal advocate for as long as she can remember, encouraging people to regard the humane treatment of all animals.
She is a believer in the power of petitions and urges family, friends, coworkers and neighbors to help save the dolphins, tuna, wildlife, domestic pets and others in need.
Our Secretary
Barbara Kagarise has been a member of AC&W since 1986 and a board member since 1987. She fondly remembers meetings at Ed and Kay Blotzers' home and the many rescues that she and Ed were involved with. Being a Paramedic has also given her the chance to rescue several animals including dogs, cats, rabbits and birds. She has loved animals since a young child and has several pets of her own.
In Memory of
Esther Hackwelder
Sadly, we had to say goodbye to our beloved friend, Esther, on February 21, 2021 only nine months shy of her 100th birthday. She volunteered for Animal Care & Welfare Inc. for 50 years making her our oldest member and she resided on our board of directors until her retirement in 2013. We will always remember her for her love, compassion and dedication to the animals. It was an honor to have known her and we will continue to be enriched by our fond memories of her friendship, humor and wisdom.
Remembering
Jane Mehaffey
With heavy hearts, we had to say goodbye to our dear friend, Jane Mehaffey, who passed away on July 15th, 2020. Jane served on the board of Animal Care & Welfare Inc. as our Office Coordinator for many years. She was an enormous asset to our organization continually working tirelessly on grants and fundraising for the benefit of homeless pets. She always made herself available to transport our adoption pets for spay and neuter appointments and was always there when we needed her.
